Captured at 7:30 one morning, this is a shot of the majestic Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in #Mumbai. Much more than an iconic building, the Taj’s history is intrinsically linked with the nation: it was the first hotel in #India to employ women, the first to have electricity (and fans), and it also housed freedom-fighters (for no charge) during the struggle for independence. Today the Taj fronts the harbour and Gateway to India, but it was originally designed to face the city (the entrance has been changed). – Yash Rane (@chefyash) @lonelyplanetindia Aaand…that’s a wrap! Thanks to @chefyash for his #lpInstatakeover this weekend of shots from #Mumbai! With #India’s industry economy positively booming Mumbai is investing its wealth in ways that make it even more alluring for travellers in 2016 and is just one of the reasons it has secured its spot in our #BestinTravel recommendations for the year ahead. The ‘Maximum City’ is certainly living up to its nickname. Visit lonelyplanet.com for more info! Hotels-live.com via www.instagram.com/p/BApf7nQqTSH/ via http://flic.kr/p/DctSTy
