Together with 21 smaller conservation areas scattered through the volcanic archipelago, over 18,000 square miles, or about one third of the water around the Galápagos Islands, are fully protected from fishing and other extractive industries. With the convergence of four major currents in the area, the waters of the Galapagos is rich in nutrients and biodiversity. We saw fantastic sea life here on a recent National Geographic Expedition, including this extraordinarily graceful spotted eagle ray. #NatGeoExpeditions #PristineSeas Hotels-live.com via https://www.instagram.com/p/BDWDqDzoMZ7/ via #Voyages https://www.facebook.com/106354736155125/photos/a.335372966586633.1073741997.106354736155125/340287149428548/?type=3
